You must read at home and complete some of the work at home as well. You also had time to work on your reading text and annotations.

In Language Arts this includes "The Raven" and the "Tracking" annotations and completed questions.
Due on Monday are your Reading Journals. I should see the "Tracking" vocabulary definitions finished, notes on the author of your novel and information about setting. If this is not completed by Tuesday morning, you have not earned the privilege of attending the youth conference. If you are unsure if you have completed these assignments, check Home Logic. You have until Tuesday morning to hand these in. You all have a novel and a reading journal. The expectation is that you are reading at home as well as in class. As mentioned in class, the minimal expectation is to read three novels (2 more after this current one) by the end of the year. The quiz on the vocabulary words for the article "Tracking" has been moved to Wednesday, February 28 due to the Canada 2067 conference. Today in class you copied annotating notes in your Reading Journal and worked on vocabulary definitions for "Tracking." We listened to "The Black Cat" by Edgar Allen Poe. You will begin annotating this tomorrow.
As you begin reading your novel, this is what should be done in your journal:
Vocabulary quiz on the "Tracking" vocabulary is next week on Wednesday, February 28 Today you had work returned to you: "The Raven" booklet and the reading comprehension assessment, "Tracking." All you your marks have been inputted in Home Logic. Some of you did not hand in your "Raven" booklets and will therefore see "NHI" (not handed in) in Home Logic.
We discussed annotating today and what you should be looking for when annotating. We have started Reading Journals. Some of you have said that you will purchase your own journal for this purpose. We will be using this tomorrow. Today we watched a video and reviewed a power point about reading strategies. The power point along with an annotated reading list have been posted in Resources.
Remember to bring a book to read in class for Tuesday. You can put a hold on a book at the CPL or choose a book here at school on Tuesday. Today in class we finished discussing theme in "A Worn Path" and watched the ending of "Dead Poet Society."
Today in class you had the morning to finish annotating and answering the questions for "Tracking." Those who finished this went on to read Chapter 4 in the social textbook and take notes. In the afternoon we discussed conflict and theme in "A Worn Path."
Today in class we continued annotating in groups "A Worn Path" by Eudora Welty. At the end of the class you were given a reading from a previous PAT and began annotating that article. You will have time to finish your annotations and the multiple choice questions tomorrow. You will be given a mark for both your annotations and the questions.
